History In Action

History matters most when it helps us understand the present and shape the future. Bridging the Gap partners with community members, schools, universities, healthcare systems, museums, libraries, and public institutions to transform historical knowledge into meaningful action. By connecting lived experience with education, research, and civic engagement, we help communities build stronger relationships, make more informed decisions, and create lasting change.

History in Practice

History Through Conversation

History comes alive through conversation. The BTG Community Book Club brings together readers of different ages and backgrounds to explore literature, discuss difficult questions, and build understanding across communities. By creating spaces for honest dialogue, we strengthen relationships and deepen civic engagement.

Descendant-Centered Collaboration

History is most meaningful when those closest to it help shape how it is told. We partner with descendants, universities, and community members to ensure that historical interpretation, research, and public memory are guided by lived experience and shared authority.

History That Shapes Policy

We believe history should inform today's decisions. By bringing together communities and institutions, we use historical knowledge to strengthen public policy, improve institutional practice, and build more equitable futures.
